How do I join?
There are no membership fees other than your commitment to learn and be excited about science! The meets are hosted on Saturdays (usually one per month) starting in October and ending in April. Stop by Mr. Landry's room any time or come to one of our lunch meetings on Fridays to join!
Where it all began...
The Kinder HSPVA Science Olympiad team was formed in the fall of 2012 after Shylah Crowder, a sophomore at the time, randomly approached Mr. Landry and asked "Would you be willing to sponsor a Science Olympiad team?" Not really knowing what all it entailed he said "Sure" thinking it was just another club. Little did he know what it would become!
That first year was full of surprises as the team slowly learned how each event was run. The hard work paid off though and the team placed 2nd at the regional meet allowing them to advance to State!
In it's second and third year the team grew to two full teams, but met stiff competition at the Regional meet preventing their advance to state. However, the students, for three years in a row, received the Spirit award! Now we continue our tradition of exploring science as we go back to one team to buckle down and try once again to achieve a place at the state meet!
